Wisconsin's Nigel Hayes and Ohio State's Aaron Craft earn accolades for their play.
It’s another Northwest Ohio sweep of the weekly Big Ten Basketball Awards as Findlay’s Aaron Craft is the league’s Player of the Week and Toledo’s Nigel Hayes is the Freshman of the Week.
Craft and Hayes also won the awards announced on Jan. 6.
Both played big roles in bounceback weeks for their teams as Ohio State won at Iowa and beat Purdue, and Hayes scored 14 points for Wisconsin in a dramatic victory Sunday over first-place Michigan State.
Craft had one of his best games in last Tuesday’s win at Iowa, scoring a game-high 17 points on 6-of-7 shooting and adding six steals, six assists and three rebounds. Craft leads the Big Ten in steals per game with 2.6 and ranks third with 4.8 assists per game.
Ohio State has won three straight headed into a big Tuesday night game vs. Michigan.
In Big Ten play, Hayes ranks second among all players with a 58.2 field goal percentage and second among freshmen with 10.5 points per game. This is his third Big Ten Freshman of the Week honor.
