Aaron Civale - Makes first spring start
Civale allowed a run on six hits and a walk over 2.2 innings in Tuesday's exhibition win over Team Brazil. He struck out one.
Impact
Civale allowed a fair amount of traffic on the basepaths but limited the damage in his first start of the spring. The right-hander's velocity was down a few ticks across the board, though his average fastball sat at just 92.1 mph last season, and it's not uncommon to see diminished velocity in a pitcher's first outing of the spring. If the dip persists over his next few appearances, it could become more notable. After splitting time between the Brewers, White Sox and Cubs with a combined 4.85 ERA and 1.26 WHIP across 23 regular-season appearances (18 starts) and 102 innings in 2025, Civale signed a one-year, $6 million deal with the Athletics on Feb. 10 and is expected to slot into the middle of their rotation.

Wander Suero - Delivers two scoreless frames
Suero allowed a hit and no walks across two scoreless innings in Monday's Cactus League win over the Padres. He struck out one.
Impact
Suero entered in the sixth inning and tossed two scoreless frames, with a two-out Clay Dungan single in the seventh inning representing the lone baserunner against him. The veteran right-hander, who relies primarily on a cutter, signed a minor-league deal with the Athletics in November after seeing limited MLB action in recent years, with his last extended stint coming in 2021 with the Nationals. Suero is competing for a spot in the big-league bullpen and has allowed a run on three hits with three strikeouts across four innings in Cactus League play, though he's more likely to open the 2026 season at Triple-A Las Vegas.

Luis Medina - Being considered for relief role
The Athletics are evaluating Medina for a potential Opening Day bullpen role, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.
Impact
After missing the second half of 2024 and all of 2025 following Tommy John surgery, Medina made his Cactus League debut Tuesday versus the Padres. He gave up one run on two hits and a walk in one inning of work, but Medina showed he still has a big fastball, topping out at 98.9 mph on the pitch. Medina is out of minor-league options and will have workload restrictions in 2026, which prompted his shift to relief this spring. The 26-year-old could eventually return to a starter role.

Luis Medina - Scheduled for Cactus League debut
Medina (elbow) will make his Cactus League debut with a relief appearance Monday against the Padres, Jason Burke of SI.com reports.
Impact
It will be the first time Medina has pitched in a game since he underwent Tommy John surgery in August 2024. The 26-year-old faces an uphill battle in making the Athletics' Opening Day roster, but he should play a role with the big club this season either as a starting pitcher or reliever.

Henry Bolte - Draws praise from manager
Bolte went 2-for-3 with a run scored in Sunday's Cactus League win over the Reds.
Impact
Bolte collected a pair of singles as part of a strong offensive showing for the Athletics on Sunday. Following the game, manager Mark Kotsay said, "There's a lot of us in that coaches' room that think [Bolte] has the ability to be a real star. He continues to make progress each year, both on the physicality side and the baseball side of just being a better hitter," Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports. Kotsay added, "The tools, the talent and the ability all align with this kid having an impact in our organization, hopefully sooner than later." Bolte is likely to open the season at Triple-A Las Vegas, but the 22-year-old earning a call-up at some point in 2026 appears to be a very realistic possibility.

J.T. Ginn - Scoreless spring outing
Ginn allowed one hit and two walks across three scoreless innings in Sunday's Cactus League win over the Reds. He struck out two.
Impact
Ginn turned in another solid outing and is now up to five scoreless innings across two appearances this spring. After topping out at 98 mph and averaging 96.9 mph on his sinker in his first appearance, the right-hander averaged 94.1 mph on the pitch Sunday with a high of 95.3 mph, still an improvement over last season's 93.4 mph average mark. Competing with Jacob Lopez (elbow), Luis Morales and Jack Perkins for a spot in the Athletics' rotation, Ginn is making a strong early impression this spring.

Shea Langeliers - Blasts first spring homer
Langeliers went 2-for-2 with a home run, a double, three total RBI, an additional run scored and was hit by a pitch in Sunday's Cactus League win over the Reds.
Impact
Langeliers opened the scoring, launching an Andrew Abbott curveball to the opposite field for a two-run homer in the first inning before following it up with a blistering 111.8 mph RBI double to left field in the third inning. Through 14 plate appearances this spring, the catcher is slashing .333/.429/.750 with two doubles, one homer and three RBI. Coming off a breakout 2025 campaign in which he posted an .861 OPS with 32 doubles and 31 homers across 123 games, the 28-year-old will look to carry that momentum into the 2026 regular season.

The 33-year-old produced a .264 average with 11 home runs, 55 RBI, 37 runs scored and two stolen bases over 387 at-bats in 110 games with Triple-A Syracuse last season, and he'll look to earn a shot with a the Athletics' major-league club in 2026.
