Lowrie's time with A's arrives at emotional end OAKLAND -- In a time that has seen the A’s go through vast roster turnover on a yearly basis, Jed Lowrie emerged as a mainstay over the past...

Skye Bolt - On bench after Stevenson's call-up Bolt is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Angels.
Impact Bolt went 0-for-6 while starting in each of the last three contests, but he salvaged some value by chipping in two stolen bases. The 28-year-old looks like he could be a candidate to move into a short-side platoon role moving forward, as the Athletics called up lefty-hitting outfielder Cal Stevenson from Triple-A Las Vegas on Wednesday. Stevenson will start in center field with the Angels bringing righty Touki Toussaint to the hill, leaving no room in the starting nine for Bolt.
AUGUST 10 • ROTOWIRE
Chad Pinder - Retreats to bench Pinder is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Angels.
Impact After going 2-for-11 with a solo home run, a double and a walk while starting in three of the past four games, Pinder will head to the bench with right-hander Touki Toussaint on the hill for the Angels. The righty-hitting Pinder still projects to see most of his starts against left-handed pitching moving forward, though he'll occasionally get opportunities versus righties, too.
AUGUST 10 • ROTOWIRE
A's designate ex-Mets infielder for assignment The Oakland Athletics lost to the Los Angeles Angels, 5-1, on Tuesday at RingCentral Coliseum.
AUGUST 10 • NJ.COM
Jonah Bride - On bench Wednesday Bride isn't in the lineup Wednesday against the Angels.
Impact Bride started the last five games and went 4-for-19 with two walks and four strikeouts. Seth Brown will take over at first base while Stephen Vogt enters the lineup behind the dish.
AUGUST 10 • ROTOWIRE
Stephen Piscotty - Remains on bench Wednesday Piscotty isn't starting Wednesday against the Angels.
Impact Piscotty has gone 1-for-14 with a walk and seven strikeouts over six games since the start of August and will be out of the lineup for the third time in the last four games. Ramon Laureano will shift to right field while Cal Stevenson starts in center.
AUGUST 10 • ROTOWIRE
Jed Lowrie - Designated for assignment Lowrie was designated for assignment by the Athletics on Wednesday.
Impact Lowrie wasn't in the lineup for the last two games, and he'll lose his spot on the 40-man roster after slashing just .180/.245/.263 with three home runs, 16 RBI, 14 runs and a stolen base over 50 games with the Athletics this year. It wouldn't be surprising to see the 38-year-old become a free agent if he goes unclaimed on waivers. Seth Brown should see increased playing time as the Athletics' designated hitter.
AUGUST 10 • ROTOWIRE
Cal Stevenson - Receives call-up to Oakland The Athletics selected Stevenson's contract from Triple-A Las Vegas on Wednesday. He'll start in center field and bat ninth in his MLB debut Wednesday against the Angels.
Impact Stevenson will take over the 40-man roster and 26-man active roster spot of designated hitter Jed Lowrie, whom the Athletics designated for assignment in a corresponding move. The 25-year-old Stevenson was acquired from the Rays earlier in the summer in the deal that sent Christian Bethancourt to Tampa Bay, and since joining the Oakland organization, he produced a .305/.417/.542 slash line with three home runs and six stolen bases over 72 plate appearances. The lefty-hitting Stevenson has played all three outfield spots in the minors this season and could get a look as an everyday player in his first taste of the big leagues, though the Athletics will likely try to limit his exposure to southpaws.
AUGUST 10 • ROTOWIRE
Paul Blackburn - Heads to IL with finger issue The Athletics placed Blackburn on the 15-day injured list Wednesday with an inflamed right middle finger, Matt Kawahara of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
Impact Blackburn had been scheduled to start Wednesday's series finale with the Angels, but the finger injury forced the Athletics to scrap those plans. The All-Star right-hander may been dealing with the issue for multiple starts, as he had posted an 8.79 ERA and 1.67 WHIP over 14.1 innings in his three outings since making his first appearance in the Midsummer Classic. JP Sears, one of the players the Athletics acquired in last week's trade that sent Frankie Montas to the Yankees, was called up from Triple-A Las Vegas and could pick up a spot start Wednesday in Blackburn's stead.
AUGUST 10 • ROTOWIRE
JP Sears - Recalled, starting Wednesday Sears was recalled from Triple-A Las Vegas on Wednesday.
Impact Sears was dealt from the Yankees to the Athletics last week, and he allowed a run on four hits and no walks while striking out five in 4.2 innings during his first start at Las Vegas. Sears made seven appearances (two starts) for the Yankees earlier in the year and posted a 2.05 ERA and 0.86 WHIP in 22 innings. The Athletics placed Paul Blackburn (finger) on the injured list Wednesday, so Sears will step in as the starter for Wednesday's game against the Angels.

AUGUST 10 • ASSOCIATED PRESS
Chad Pinder - Clubs 10th homer Pinder went 1-for-3 with a solo home run and a walk in Tuesday's 5-1 loss to the Angels.
Impact Pinder prevented the shutout in the ninth inning, but the Athletics never threatened for a comeback. Five of the utility man's 10 homers this year have come in his last 17 contests, though his long ball Tuesday was his first since July 26. The 30-year-old has gone 4-for-19 (.211) in August and now sports a .242/.267/.411 slash line through 278 plate appearances this year.
AUGUST 10 • ROTOWIRE
James Kaprielian - Handed sixth loss Kaprielian (3-6) allowed four runs (three earned) on six hits and three walks while striking out six in five innings, taking the loss versus the Angels on Tuesday.
Impact Kaprielian was no match for Shohei Ohtani, who pitched six scoreless innings. Kaprielian's biggest mistake was a three-run home run to Taylor Ward in the fifth inning. The four runs allowed were the most the 28-year-old right-hander's given up since June 15, and this was his first loss since June 21. For the season, he has a 4.38 ERA, 1.32 WHIP and 63:39 K:BB through 90.1 innings across 18 starts. He's tentatively projected for a road start versus the Rangers in his next outing.

Stephen Piscotty - Not in Tuesday's lineup Piscotty is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Angels.
Impact Piscotty is 1-for-16 with a walk and eight strikeouts in his past six contests and will take a seat Tuesday. Ramon Laureano will shift to right field while Skye Bolt starts in center.
AUGUST 9 • ROTOWIRE
Jed Lowrie - On bench again Tuesday Lowrie is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Angels.
Impact Lowrie is 2-for-16 with a double and a walk in four games since being reinstated from the injured list last week, and he'll take a seat for the second consecutive contest. Chad Pinder will bat fifth as the designated hitter Tuesday.
AUGUST 9 • ROTOWIRE
Elvis Andrus - Steps out of lineup Andrus is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Angels.
Impact Andrus has sat against the past two right-handed pitchers Oakland has faced, and he'll do so again Tuesday with Shohei Ohtani on the mound for the Halos. Nick Allen will move to shortstop while Vimael Machin at third base and Jonah Bride at second.
AUGUST 9 • ROTOWIRE
Cody Thomas - Kicks off rehab in Arizona Thomas (Achilles) started in center field and went 0-for-1 with two walks Monday in the first game of his rehab assignment with the Athletics' rookie-level Arizona Complex League a...
Impact Since being optioned to Triple-A Las Vegas early in spring training, Thomas has resided on the minor-league 7-day injured list all season while recovering from the Achilles surgery he underwent in the offseason. Thomas has finally been cleared to play again, but he'll likely require several games in the lower levels of the minors to get his timing back at the plate before he settles into the lineup at Las Vegas. Though Thomas possesses a spot on the Athletics' 40-man roster, the extensive time he's missed this season may take him out of the running for earning a September call-up to the majors.
AUGUST 9 • ROTOWIRE
Shea Langeliers - Should get late-season promotion Athletics general manager David Forst said Monday that he expects Langeliers to receive a promotion from Triple-A Las Vegas before the end of the season, Matt Kawahara of the San F...
Impact Since Oakland will already have to add Langeliers to its 40-man roster this offseason to protect him from the Rule 5 draft, the organization appears motivated to at least give him a late-season look in the majors to see if he's ready to take over the No. 1 catcher's role from Sean Murphy, who could be traded this winter as he heads into his first year of arbitration. At least at the plate, Langeliers looks deserving of a stiffer test, as he's slashing .281/.362/.513 with 38 extra-base hits and five stolen bases while maintaining a 22.3 percent strikeout rate across 381 plate appearances for Las Vegas. Langeliers has also drawn favorable reviews for his work defensively, which should help his case for playing regularly even if he gets off to a slow start with the bat to begin his big-league career. Forst didn't specify when Langeliers' call-up might come, but the 24-year-old at least makes for an appealing pickup for fantasy managers in deeper leagues who can afford a luxury stash.

Cole Irvin - Takes tough-luck loss Irvin (6-9) yielded one run on five hits over eight innings Monday, striking out six and taking a loss against the Angels.
Impact After serving up a solo homer to Luis Rengifo in the first inning, Irvin locked in and dominated the rest of the way. He allowed just one more runner to reach scoring position and tied his season best with 16 whiffs. The 28-year-old lefty has thrown at least six innings while giving up fewer than three earned runs in seven consecutive starts; he lowered his ERA from 3.58 to 2.92 during that span. Irvin will carry an 84:23 K:BB into his projected road match with Houston this weekend.
