Julian Aguiar - Returns from TJ surgery Aguiar allowed one run on two hits and one walk while striking out two over two innings in Saturday's spring game against the Guardians.

Impact Aguiar stepped on a big-league mound in a game setting for the first time since September of 2024 after undergoing Tommy John elbow surgery. He was the third of three starter candidates to pitch in the Cactus League opener. Chase Burns started the game followed by Rhett Lowder before Aguiar entered the contest. He threw 30 pitches (18 strikes) and used all the pitches in his arsenal. For those reading the tea leaves in this battle for the rotation, it should be noted that several of Cleveland's expected regulars were removed from the game by the time Aguiar entered in the fifth inning.

He used a new in-development changeup to induce a weak flyout to center field. "My changeup was really good. It gives me a lot of confidence," Burns told Mark Sheldon of MLB.com. Working on secondary pitches have been a focus for Burns in early in camp. The right-hander also used his four-seamer, slider and sinker.

Julian Aguiar - Competing for rotation spot Aguiar (elbow) is without restrictions in Reds camp and competing for the final spot in the rotation, Mark Sheldon of MLB.com reports.

Impact Aguiar missed the entire 2025 season after having Tommy John surgery in October 2024, but he's now 16 months removed from the operation and participating fully in camp. The 24-year-old is in the rotation mix for Cincinnati but is almost surely ticketed for Triple-A Louisville following a lost season.
