T.J. Friedl - Placed on waivers
The Reds placed Friedl on outright waivers Wednesday, Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports.
Impact
With the Reds most likely out of contention for a postseason appearance, the team will now attempt to shed payroll for the final month of the season by exposing Friedl to waivers. The 31-year-old has endured the worst season of his career up to this point, batting just .158 with a .476 OPS through 253 plate appearances. It's unlikely that another team will be willing to take on the $700,000 remaining on his contract for minimal production, so Friedl will presumably clear waivers and remain with the Reds for the rest of the year.

Eugenio Suárez - Placed on outright waivers
The Reds placed Suarez on outright waivers Wednesday, Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports.
Impact
The Reds signed Suarez to a $15 million deal during the offseason in an effort to bolster their offense and contend for a postseason berth. However, with a month remaining in the regular season, Cincinnati sits in last place in the NL Central at 63-71 -- nine games back of the final wild-card spot. The team will now attempt to save some money by making Suarez available to the other 29 teams via waivers, but the 35-year-old isn't likely to be claimed after slashing just .208/.295/.410 across 410 plate appearances this season while still carrying a $3 million price tag for the rest of the year.

Elly De La Cruz - Three hits in Wednesday's win
De La Cruz went 3-for-6 with a double, a run scored and a stolen base in Wednesday's 10-9 win over the Giants.
Impact
The star shortstop was one of three Reds to put together three-hit days, but most of the team's offense came in a stunning ninth-inning rally that saw Cincinnati erase a 9-3 deficit. De La Cruz is up to 23 steals on the season but only three in August, and on the month he's batting just .212 (21-for-99) with five doubles, three homers, 10 RBI and 15 runs over 25 contests.

Héctor Rodríguez - Goes yard twice in comeback win
Rodriguez went 3-for-6 with two solo home runs in Wednesday's 10-9 win over the Giants.
Impact
Getting the start in right field and batting leadoff against Logan Webb, Rodriguez took the San Francisco ace deep in the third inning before leading off the ninth with another solo shot off Spencer Bivens that sparked a stunning seven-run rally for the Reds. It was the first time in his brief MLB career that the 22-year-old had hit atop the order, and through his first 16 games for Cincy, Rodriguez is batting .220 (11-for-50) with two doubles, three homers, five RBI and six runs.

Emilio Pagán - Notches 17th save
Pagan gave up a hit and struck out two in a scoreless ninth inning Wednesday to record his 17th save of the season in a 10-9 win over the Giants.
Impact
It looked like the veteran right-hander would get the afternoon off as the Reds headed into the ninth down 9-3, but a shocking seven-run rally created a save situation for Pagan that he breezed through on 16 pitches (11 strikes). Pagan has been scored upon just once in his last 14 appearances, posting a 1.29 ERA, 0.64 WHIP and 15:1 K:BB in 14 innings over that stretch while converting all 10 of his save opportunities and picking up three wins along the way.

Nick Lodolo - Hit hard in no-decision Wednesday
Lodolo didn't factor into the decision in Wednesday's 10-9 win over the Giants, giving up four runs on six hits and two walks over four-plus innings. He struck out five.
Impact
Half of the hits off Lodolo went for extra bases, including two-run blasts by Jonah Cox in the second inning and Rafael Devers in the fifth. Lodolo has struggled to keep the ball in the yard since coming off the IL earlier this month and attempting to employ a new grip on his curveball to avoid blisters, and over his last four starts he's served up six homers in 16.1 innings en route to a 7.72 ERA, 1.84 WHIP and 14:6 K:BB. The southpaw will be a risky fantasy option in his next trip to the mound, which is set to come at home early next week against the Padres.

Tyler Stephenson - Taking seat Wednesday

Héctor Rodríguez - Getting turn in leadoff spot
Rodriguez will start in right field and bat leadoff in Wednesday's game against the Giants.
Impact
Reds manager Terry Francona is shaking things up a bit as he aims to jumpstart a struggling offense. Rodriguez earned the bump up in the lineup after going 5-for-13 with one home run and one double over his last four contests. It's the first time in his young big-league career that Rodriguez has batted higher than sixth. Usual leadoff man Elly De La Cruz is batting second for the Reds.
