Denver Nuggets News and Rumors - NBA

Ryan Nembhard - Settling in with new team Nembhard posted five points (2-4 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 1-1 FT), one rebound, two assists and two steals over 17 minutes during Wednesday's 122-110 preseason loss to the Clippers.

Impact Nembhard is settling into his new digs with Denver following a pair of offseason trades and a subsequent release from the Hornets. He's expected to start the campaign with the G League's Grand Rapids Gold, but Nembhard could find himself getting playing time for the Nuggets if injuries befall the team's backcourt at some point.

3 Winners, 1 Loser From Nuggets' Preseason Loss vs. Clippers The Denver Nuggets had a few standouts from their preseason loss to the L.A. Clippers.

Cam Whitmore - Posts 17 points from bench Cam Whitmore posted 17 points (7-13 FG, 1-3 3Pt, 2-5 FT), four rebounds and a steal over 24 minutes during Wednesday's 122-110 preseason loss to the Clippers.

Impact Whitmore made the most of an extended run off the bench. The 22-year-old signed a two-way deal with Denver in September after Cleveland waived him following a five-team trade. With DeMar DeRozan ahead of him on the depth chart, Whitmore faces a fight for minutes, and his deal limits him to 50 regular-season games.

Jamal Murray - Accurate shooting in defeat Murray tallied 14 points (6-8 FG, 2-3 3Pt), four rebounds and an assist in 17 minutes in Wednesday's 122-110 preseason loss to the Clippers.

Impact Murray delivered his most efficient preseason outing, hitting six of eight shots in just over a quarter. The veteran guard has played limited minutes this exhibition season and will take on his customary load once the regular season tips off.

Nikola Jokic - Settles for five points in loss Jokic logged five points (1-6 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 3-4 FT), six rebounds, seven assists and a steal over 17 minutes during Wednesday's 122-110 preseason loss to the Clippers.

Impact Jokic had a quiet scoring night in a limited run, though he still led Denver in assists. It was a sharp drop from Monday's win over the Bulls, when he posted 22 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists. The three-time MVP hasn't topped 26 minutes in four preseason appearances, so expect his workload to stay light until the games count.

Julian Strawther - Set for imaging on knee Strawther (knee) will undergo an MRI on Thursday morning, Katy Winge of Altitude Sports reports.

Impact Strawther exited to the locker room in the third quarter of Wednesday's loss to the Clippers after his left knee bent awkwardly following contact while handling the ball. "All you can do is hope for the best," said Nuggets head coach David Adelman. An extended absence for Strawther would test Denver's depth on the wing with Spencer Jones (hamstring) not yet cleared for contact.

Trevon Brazile - Leading scorer in preseason loss Brazile registered 22 points (8-10 FG, 3-4 3Pt, 3-5 FT), four rebounds and one steal over 25 minutes in Wednesday's 122-110 preseason loss to the Clippers.

Impact Brazile exploded off the bench, pouring in a game-high 22 points after combining for just 14 points across his previous three preseason appearances. The rookie second-round pick faces an uphill battle for a consistent role in the regular-season rotation, though performances like Wednesday's could improve his chances of earning more playing time.

Julian Strawther - Exits with injury Wednesday Strawther (knee) exited to the locker room in the third quarter of Wednesday's preseason game against the Clippers, NBA writer Justin Russo reports.

Impact Strawther's left knee bent awkwardly, leaving him in considerable pain and forcing an early exit to the locker room. An update on the 24-year-old's status could come after the game or in the coming days, but an extended absence would test the Nuggets' depth on the wing with Spencer Jones (hamstring) not yet cleared for contact.

DeMar DeRozan - Resting versus Clippers DeRozan (rest) won't play in Wednesday's preseason game against the Clippers, Katy Winge of Altitude Sports reports.

Impact The Nuggets' starters will all suit up versus Los Angeles, though the team will be without its top bench option. DeRozan has had a quiet preseason, averaging 4.7 points, 1.3 rebounds and 1.3 assists across 10.2 minutes per contest. However, it's reasonable to assume he will be much more productive come the start of the regular season.

Pedro Bradshaw - Lands camp contract Bradshaw signed a training camp contract with Denver on Tuesday, Paul Garcia of The Spot Up Shot reports.

Impact Bradshaw is set to compete for a spot on Denver's regular-season roster. However, the organization now owns the swingman's G League rights and could waive him at any time.

Spencer Jones - Not yet cleared for contact Jones (hamstring) remains limited to non-contact work, Vinny Benedetto of The Denver Gazette reports.

Impact It appears unlikely that Jones will be recovered from a hamstring injury in time to receive any preseason reps. Given where he's at in his rehab, Jones' status for the start of the regular season is in limbo as well.

Lonnie Walker IV - Waived by Nuggets Denver waived Walker on Monday, per Michael Scotto of HoopsHype.com.

Impact Walker wasn't able to leave enough of an impression at Nuggets camp to maintain a roster spot. The veteran swingman is now seeking out other opportunities around the league this fall.

DeMar DeRozan - Quiet outing off bench DeRozan recorded two points (0-4 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 2-2 FT), two rebounds and two assists in nine minutes during Sunday's 133-128 preseason win over Chicago.

Impact DeRozan struggled offensively in limited action, missing all four of his field-goal attempts while coming off the bench. The veteran forward has played fewer than 12 minutes in each of his three preseason appearances, suggesting Denver is managing his workload ahead of the regular season. His reduced preseason minutes shouldn't necessarily indicate a diminished regular-season role.

Christian Braun - Struggles in preseason win Braun finished with two points (1-6 FG, 0-3 3Pt), five rebounds, one assist, one steal and two blocks in 23 minutes during Sunday's 133-128 preseason win over Chicago.

Impact Braun struggled to find his shooting touch but contributed defensively, recording three combined steals and blocks while avoiding turnovers. The 25-year-old guard started alongside Denver's projected first unit, and his ability to contribute across multiple categories should help offset occasional poor shooting performances during the regular season.

3 DAYS AGO • ROTOWIRE

Spencer Jones - Misses another preseason contest Jones (hamstring) did not play in Sunday's 133-128 preseason win over Chicago.

Impact Jones has yet to make his preseason debut after suffering a hamstring injury early in training camp. The forward has resumed some on-court activity, but Denver appears to be proceeding cautiously with his recovery. His status for the Nuggets' remaining preseason games remains uncertain.

3 DAYS AGO • ROTOWIRE

Cameron Johnson - Drains four treys in preseason win Johnson delivered 15 points (5-7 FG, 4-5 3Pt, 1-2 FT), three rebounds, two steals and an assist in 25 minutes during Sunday's preseason win over the Bulls.

Impact The veteran forward was locked in from downtown as the Nuggets' starting five all played at least 23 minutes in preparation for Opening Night. Johnson has never suited up for more than 66 regular-season games in a campaign as injuries have plagued him since being the 11th overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft, but he's been a valuable secondary scorer when healthy, averaging at least 12.2 points and 2.0 threes and shooting 39.0 percent or better from beyond the arc in each of the last five seasons.

3 DAYS AGO • ROTOWIRE

Aaron Gordon - Leading scorer in Sunday's win Gordon dropped a team-high 25 points (9-12 FG, 3-4 3Pt, 4-5 FT) while adding six rebounds in 23 minutes during Sunday's preseason win over the Bulls.

Impact Denver's starting five all played at least 23 minutes as the team gets ready for Opening Night, and while Gordon stepped up with a strong scoring effort, Nikola Jokic also appeared to be in midseason form with a triple-double. Gordon has had trouble staying on the court the last couple years, playing a combined 87 regular-season games in 2024-25 and 2025-26, but he's been healthy this preseason and is averaging 18.3 points, 5.0 boards and 2.0 threes in just 16.0 minutes across three exhibition contests.
