Kings 50th anniversary logo to be revealed on FOX Sports West
The LA Kings franchise will officially turn 50 on Feb. 9, to mark the occasion the team’s 50th anniversary logo will be unveiled during ‘Kings Live’ on FOX Sports West (coverage begins at 3:30p on Tuesday).
Debuting during the 1967-68 NHL season, the Los Angeles Kings expansion team was announced at a Board of Governor’s meeting on Feb. 9, 1966. In their first season, the Kings would go 31-33-10 during the regular season before bowing out of the playoffs in seven games to another expansion team, the Minnesota North Stars.
The Kings inaugural season also marked the opening of the Forum in December of 1967.
As part of the Kings 50th anniversary celebration, the team will also host next year’s NHL All-Star Game at Staples Center.
