Rays head to Camden Yards… in camouflage

The Tampa Bay Rays hit the road to Baltimore following a 4-3 loss to the Boston Red Sox on Thursday night dressed to impress … in the woods.
It’s the latest themed road trip for the Rays, who wore letterman jackets before a trip to Fenway Park in April. The three-game series against the Orioles, which begins at 7:05 p.m. ET Friday, is part of a six-game road swing that also includes a stop in Toronto.
“We have so much of that in our clubhouse now,” Rays manager Joe Maddon said of the camo influence.
“Of course, (designated hitter) Luke (Scott) is one of the perpetrators. (Bench coach) Davey Martinez. Now Westy (equipment manager Chris Westmoreland), our clubhouse guru – they’re all over this stuff. We have so many hunters. (Reliever Kyle) Farnsworth. And plus, camo is in right now. Camo actually is in in a fashion sense. It’s coming from all different directions. The only part that’s uncool in a sense is that it’s a night trip, and nobody gets to see you. But then again, if you’re wearing camo, they wouldn’t see anyone.”
