Report: No extension talks between Julio Jones and the Atlanta Falcons

It goes without saying that fans of the Atlanta Falcons are hoping that the team is able to lock up their star wide receiver to a long-term extension. Unfortunately, Vaughn McClure of ESPN reports that Julio Jones and the Falcons haven't talked extension to this point.

"There have been no contract extension talks between the Atlanta Falcons and Pro Bowl wide receiver Julio Jones' camp, a league source told ESPN on Monday." McClure explained.

While it's usually not a good sign to hear this when Jones has just one year remaining on his contract, the way that the receiver has handled the whole situation is more than commendable. Jones has decided to let his agent handle everything with his contract, while he remains focused on playing football.

"I'm not going to hold out for anything," Jones told ESPN last month. "My teammates need me. I'm being selfish if I'm not here and doing what I need to do."

While we're all anxiously awaiting a new contract for Jones, there's no signs pointing to the fact that it may be close. Could we wind up waiting until next offseason for the deal? It's definitely possible.
