Based on the power rankings from last week, this updated set of rankings may see a decent amount of shuffling.

Two weeks into the 2016 NFL season and guess what, the MVP race is far from being settled. Sarcasm aside, certain names and faces around the league have already raised a few eyebrows with their play during two weeks while others have seemed to left more questions than answers.

At this juncture, the only thing certain about the MVP race this season is that it will see more quarterbacks in the picture than anything else. While we’re on the topic, it would be pretty cool to see a defensive player walk away with the award but hey beggars can’t be choosers.

So here are the updated power rankings for the 2016 NFL MVP.

Ben Roethlisberger

2-0

Last week: 1-0Last rank: 5th

Roethlisberger completed only 51% of his passes for 259 yards and three touchdowns and he also tossed two interceptions, which gives him three total for the season so far. He stays in the same slot as last week primarily because currently, Big Ben leads the league in touchdown passes while also posting nine passing plays that totaled 20+ yards, tied for sixth in the league. The fact that his team is 2-0 plays a considerable part in it but to be brutally honest, Atlanta Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan is breathing down his neck as far as making an appearance on this list.

The fact that he was still fairly productive with favorite wideout Antonio Brown and running back DeAngelo Williams being held in check is somewhat impressive as well. It will be interesting to see the Roethlisberger can bounce back next week on the road against in-state rival Philadelphia Eagles.

Andrew Luck

0-2

Last week: 0-1Last rank: 1

Luck totaled 197 yards and one touchdown along with one interception and was sacked five times, with one of them being a game-clinching strip sack late in the fourth quarter by the great Von Miller. One thing that hurts Luck’s MVP status is his team getting off to a slow 0-2 start. Luck is eighth in the league in passing yards with with 582 yards, with a 5-to-1 TD-INT ratio. The losing hurts but neither loss has come at the expense of poor play from their franchise quarterback.

Eli Manning

2-0

Last week: 1-0Last rank: UR

Lost within that is the play of the two-time Super Bowl MVP so far on the season. Manning is tenth in the league in passing yards while also tossing three touchdowns and only one interception and connecting on a very impressive 74% of his passes so far. The Giants defense has been pretty impressive so far in it’s own right but ultimately, the Giants go as far as Eli Manning can take him.

Having a wide receiver corps such as Odell Beckham, the returning Victor Cruz (who has looked pretty good so far by the way) and rookie Sterling Shepard will make life grand for Manning and the passing game going forward. As long as Manning can refrain from the costly turnovers, which he has done before, Manning can very well find himself in the MVP conversation throughout the season.

Aaron Rodgers

1-1

Last week: 1-0Last rank: 2

The combo of Rodgers and Nelson looks off so far after two weeks of regular season action. If I were a betting man, I would bet against this early season funk to continue outside of the month of September. Once Rodgers gets into a groove with Nelson, receivers Randall Cobb and Devante Adams, we will get back to seeing the normal 300+ yard games by Rodgers with three or four touchdowns and his heavyweight championship pose after every touchdown.

Sep 18, 2016; Charlotte, NC, USA; Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton (1) reacts in the third quarter. The Panthers defeated the 49ers 46-27 at Bank of America Stadium. Mandatory Credit: Bob Donnan-USA TODAY Sports

Cam Newton

1-1

Last week: 0-1Last rank: 3

Newton was 24-of-40 for 353 yards and four touchdowns while throwing just one interception. Newton also chipped in the running department with 37 rushing yards. A far cry from what we saw from him in Denver last week. It helps immensely that Newton has his massive receiver in Kelvin Benjamin back in the fold and KB himself is off to a blazing start to the season. Every game won’t be 300+ yards and four touchdowns for Newton but consistently from Newton will make it extremely difficult to trump him for 2016 MVP
