Chargers' Verrett doesn't have to look far to find the NFL's toughest cover

Jason Verrett thinks he squares off against the NFL's toughest receiver five times a week -- but never on Sundays.

The San Diego Chargers' top cornerback said as much when teammate Keenan Allen interrupted his Twitter Q&A session on Wednesday.

Verrett probably isn't kidding. Allen was one pace to shatter the Chargers' single-season receptions record before he was forced to injured reserve with a midseason kidney injury.

Allen would've joined the lockdown corner at the Pro Bowl last weekend. Instead, he can take solace in knowing he helped Verrett up his game to an all-star level.
