Former Green Bay Packers tight end Jermichael Finley officially retired from the NFL this week. He thanked the franchise and its fans for their support on his official Twitter account.

Finley hasn't played in a game since Week 7 of the 2013 season, when he bruised his spinal cord against the Cleveland Browns. The injury required spinal-fusion surgery from which he never returned.

Finley, 28, was a third-round pick out of Texas in the 2008 NFL Draft. He played 70 games with the Packers and caught 223 passes for 2,785 yards and 20 touchdowns during his six-year career.
