Brock Osweiler Giving Houston Texans Buyer's Remorse

Published Jun. 30, 2017 6:28 p.m. ET

Houston Texans owner Bob McNair spent a whole lot of money on quarterback Brock Osweiler. Now, after seven games, the whole organization has buyer’s remorse.

Houston Texans quarterback Brock Osweiler has given the organization a serious case of buyer’s remorse. Most of the organization already had it the minute he signed his contract. It’s a four-year, $72 million deal with $37 million over the first two years.

And this was done in spite of having a small sample size that showed he wasn’t worth it. Even though he failed in the playoffs, last year’s quarterback, Brian Hoyer, was better all year last year. Head coach Bill O’Brien and rest of the organization tried to tell McNair not to do it.

But now he’s there and everyone including the players is disgusted with him. He’s had his moments, finding receivers DeAndre Hopkins and Will Fuller for big plays. But for a big chunk of this season so far, his receivers have looked at him sideways.

He just plain misses too many throws and when there’s pressure, he freaks out. So far this season, he’s completing 59 percent of his passes for 1,408 yards eight TDs and eight INTs. His quarterback for season is a paltry 74.1 and his Pro Football Focus grade is 38.9.

On any grading system, 50 is an F so use your imagination to figure out how bad he is. I told everyone that would listen in a previously written article that this wouldn’t work. He couldn’t lead a touchdown drive against the Oakland Raiders defense last year!

That should tell you everything you need to know about him.

Maybe McNair will listen next time.
