Put your hands up! Geno coaster lasts another week

Geno Smith’s recent woes won’t cost him his starting job, according to Jets head coach Rex Ryan.

While the rookie owns the league’s worst completion percentage among all quarterbacks with six or more starts and leads the NFL in interceptions, he will take snaps under center when 5-6 New York takes on Miami in Week 13.

“Right now, I would feel that he gives us the best chance to win,” Ryan said, via Bob Glauber of Newsday.

Ryan said after the game that he needed to watch more film before naming a starter, but opted for Smith instead of undrafted rookie Matt Simms.

Smith has had a sobering month-and-a-half after his three-touchdown performance against the Falcons. Headline writers tabbed Geno Smith as a star beginning to blossom at the time, but in recent weeks Simms has gained popularity among the fan base.
