NFL Week 2: Who plays on Monday night Week 3?

Published Jun. 30, 2017 6:28 p.m. ET

In Week 3 of the 2016 NFL regular season, the Atlanta Falcons will travel to New Orleans to face the Saints in an NFC South matchup.

In an NFC South matchup, the Atlanta Falcons will stay on the road in Week 3, as they head to New Orleans to face Drew Brees and the Saints. Both teams will be looking to try and grab a stronghold in the division early in the season, and it should be a good one in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome.

Last week, the Falcons went into the Black Hole in Oakland and beat the Raiders pretty soundly. Athough the final score was 35-28, the Falcons had control throughout, and their offense appeared unstoppable at times. Matt Ryan threw for nearly 400 yards in the contest, connecting for three touchdown passes.

The Saints fell to 0-2 on Sunday, as they could not get enough offense to beat the New York Giants on the road. After putting up 34 points in an opening week loss to the Oakland Raiders, Brees and company looked lost on offense in Week 2. They should be able to rebound against an Atlanta defense that has allowed nearly 60 points through three games.

New Orleans can be tough to beat at home, and had it not been for Oakland scoring 22 points in the fourth quarter, they would have easily won in Week 1. Atlanta looked very bad in a Week 1 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but then came back and played a complete game against Oakland. This one had the potential to be a shootout in the Bayou.

The game is scheduled to kick off at 8:30pm ET. The game can be viewed nationally on ESPN, who have had the rights to Monday Night Football since 2006. Jon Gruden and Sean McDonough will be on the call in this NFC South showdown.
