Knapp named as new Raiders OC
The Oakland Raiders named Houston Texans quarterbacks coach Greg Knapp as their new offensive coordinator Wednesday.
FOX Sports reported Monday that Knapp had been offered the position by newly installed head coach Dennis Allen and general manager Reggie McKenzie.
The move marks Knapp's second stint as Raiders offensive coordinator, having previously held the job for two seasons in 2007 and 2008. He also ran the offenses in San Francisco from 2001 to 2003 and in Atlanta from 2004 to 2006.
The 48-year-old was the coordinator in Seattle in 2010 before heading to Houston last season.
Knapp earned high praise this season for the work he did with Texans rookie quarterback T.J. Yates, who was forced into action because of injuries to starter Matt Schaub and backup Matt Leinart.
Yates helped guide the Texans to their first postseason appearance and a first-round victory over Cincinnati.
