Josh Norman on Drew Brees: 'I've got to tip my hat to him'

Sometimes, even the best defensive backs in the NFL can get tricked by those veteran elite quarterbacks.

This was the case when the Carolina Panthers took down the New Orleans Saints in Week 13. After a fourth quarter touchdown pass from Drew Brees, stellar young cornerback Josh Norman had nothing but praise for the veteran quarterback.

As Jonathan Jones of The Charlotte Observer reports, the play came when the Saints were facing a third-and-3, and Brees called a timeout. On the very next play, Brees threw a touchdown pass to Brandon Coleman.

“That’s why Drew Brees is Drew Brees. He’ll be in the Hall of Fame,” Norman told The Charlotte Observer. “He saw something, called a timeout and ran the same play. He saw us in the same coverage. He went with his gut and he made a big play. I’ve got to tip my hat to him.”

Norman also went as far as saying that he thought the Panthers were going to take it for six the other way before the play happened.

“Oh my gosh. We’re going for six.” Norman said he thought.

“That wasn’t the case,” he said. “Drew did a great job of pumping with his eyes and, one thing led to another.”

At least we know that Norman is somewhat human, even though he's been by far one of the elite cornerbacks in the NFL. Even with that said, don't expect to see Carolina's top corner get beaten too often moving forward in the 2015 season.
