Giants backup QB Ryan Nassib to get extended playing time in preseason

Don't tell New York Giants quarterback Ryan Nassib that the preseason games are meaningless. The third year quarterback is excited to get back on the field and show off what he has learned in the second year under offensive coordinator Ben McAdoo.

"Obviously this is my chance to play and go into the games knowing that I'm going to have playing time," said Nassib, per Newsday. "It's something you look forward to."

Nassib showed a ton of progress from his rookie season to his sophomore year, and it showed up during the 2014 preseason. Nassib completed 44-of-68 passes for 588 yards, five touchdowns and a 116.5 passer rating.

"Just take what we've been working on and take it out on the field," he said."In the preseason you don't game plan as much as you would in the regular season, so it's really just to show how your training is kicking in . . . I still think I still have a lot to prove."

The Giants are hoping that Nassib can progress even more in his third season and prove to the organization that he is ready to take over for Eli Manning when the time comes. Of course, if he keeps putting up numbers like these in the preseason, the Giants might have a difficult time re-signing him when he fits free agency after the 2016 season.
