Teague out for slumping Hawks because of injury

Published Feb. 21, 2014 7:51 p.m. ET

AUBURN HILLS, Mich. (AP) Atlanta Hawks guard Jeff Teague is out of Friday night's game against the Detroit Pistons because of a sprained left ankle.

Teague hurt his ankle in Wednesday's loss to Washington. The injury-riddled Hawks have lost seven in a row, but DeMarre Carroll is returning Friday after a three-game absence caused by a strained left hamstring.

Atlanta is without center Al Horford, who had right pectoral muscle surgery.

Backup guard Chauncey Billups is out for Detroit after surgery on his left knee.
