Titans agree to terms with receiver Dorial Green-Beckham
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) The Tennessee Titans have agreed to terms on a contract with their second round draft selection, wide receiver Dorial Green-Beckham.
The Titans announced the deal Monday but did not release terms of the contract.
Off-field issues dropped the 6-foot-5, 237-pound Green-Beckham from a likely first-round selection down to No. 40 overall to Tennessee. He said the night he was drafted that he had been a young guy having fun in college and put that all in his past.
He spent last season at Oklahoma practicing with the Sooners but ineligible to play under NCAA transfer rules. The native of Springfield, Missouri, spent his first two seasons at Missouri where he caught 87 passes for 1,278 yards with 17 touchdowns before being dismissed in April 2014 after several run-ins with the police during his two years at the school.
His waiver to play immediately at Oklahoma was dismissed by the NCAA, though Green-Beckham stayed and practiced despite not being allowed to play.
In 2014, a police investigation of a suspected burglary involving Green-Beckham while he was at Missouri was closed without an arrest, primarily because of reluctant witnesses who feared retaliation and harassment for bringing a criminal complaint. He then was suspended by coach Gary Pinkel for an unspecified violation of team rules.
Earlier that year, he was arrested along with two men after Springfield, Missouri police found a pound of marijuana in their car.
Green-Beckham was also charged in October 2012 with marijuana possession in Columbia, Missouri, and later pleaded guilty to second-degree trespassing.
The Titans now have agreed to terms with seven of their nine draft picks with only quarterback Marcus Mariota, the No. 2 selection overall, and offensive lineman Jeremiah Poutasi of Utah, a third-round pick, unsigned.
