Report: Eagles' Bradford should be ready for training camp

Published Jul. 22, 2015 11:08 a.m. ET

As the Philadelphia Eagles head into training camp, there will be battles to track at other positions, but none more important than quarterback, since Sam Bradford's health is the major question on everyone's mind.

An anonymous source familiar with the situation told True Jersey's Elliot Shorr-Parks that Eagles fans can relax. According to the source, Bradford is "looking great," has been in the rehab room close to every day this summer, and should be ready to go when training camp opens.

Until now, we haven't heard many reports on Bradford's progress. The veteran quarterback, who is attempting to make a comeback from his second consecutive ACL tears, is expected to be on the field for the majority of first-team snaps in 11-on-11 drills.

He won't be handed the starting job on a silver platter, but when asked during mini-camps whether Bradford would be ready for training camp, head coach Chip Kelly deadpanned, "God, we hope so."

This is the first real update on Bradford's injury that we have seen since early June when he told reporters, "I just feel more comfortable dropping back. I feel like when I first got out here I was about a half-count slow. I feel like I've kind of worked myself back to as close to game speed as I can get it right now. I think, overall, I just feel more comfortable with my knee. I trust it more. It's not as sore. It feels better. Overall, I just feel better."

The Eagles kick off their first practice on Aug. 2, and if Bradford is not taking the first repetition in 11-on-11 team drills, something went wrong.
