Report: NFL reassigns officials after blunders in Cardinals-49ers game

Published Dec. 1, 2015 1:23 p.m. ET

The San Francisco 49ers and Arizona Cardinals were unhappy with the officiating in their matchup Sunday and apparently some of their complaints had merit.

The officiating crew that worked the game, headed by referee Pete Morelli, was reassigned from Sunday night's matchup between the Indianapolis Colts and Pittsburgh Steelers, per a report from Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk.

Citing a source with knowledge of the situation, Florio wrote that the switch was made due to multiple errors committed by Morelli's crew.

San Francisco guard Alex Boone complained bitterly about the officiating during a postgame rant and 49ers veteran wide receiver Anquan Boldin said it "felt like we were playing two teams today."

“The officials were struggling,” Cardinals coach Bruce Arians told reporters after the game. “Mightily. They can't count to three.”
