Roger Goodell urges NFL owners to support concussion research

Three days after congressional legislators concluded that the NFL attempted to improperly influence a major government research study on football and brain disease, league commissioner Roger Goodell sent a letter to all 32 teams urging NFL owners to support concussion research.

Goodell reaffirmed the NFL's $30 million grant commitment to the National Institutes of Health, which was reportedly in jeopardy after the NIH refused to take a $16 million grant away from prominent Boston University researcher Robert Stern, who is a leading expert on the effects football has on brain diseases like CTE.
