Parental discretion advised: Texans coach O'Brien tells mom to avoid 'Hard Knocks'

The Tuesday evening premiere of the new season of 'Hard Knocks' is eagerly anticipated by fans of the football reality show, but Houston Texans head coach Bill O'Brien has seen enough to know it's not for everyone.

Especially his parents.

"I called my parents and I asked them not to watch it," O'Brien said, via ESPN. "Especially my mother. She's Irish Catholic and she goes to Mass I think every day. She's not going to be very happy with me."

O'Brien said he has the opportunity to view each episode the morning before it airs in order to request any scenes that might give away a competitive advantage be removed.

What he saw of himself at work with his team prompted him to place a preemptive call to his parents.

"It's always been important to me to just be myself," O'Brien said. "Whether you succeed or fail in life, at least you did it being yourself. You know I'm not trying to be somebody else, and that's what I try to do is just be myself. I'm not really concerned about cameras. But like I said, I may get a phone call tomorrow morning from my mother."
