These two Giants rookies could make an impact on offense in Week 6
Due to the injuries at wide receiver and tight end, the New York Giants will likely be asking for contributions from rookies Geremy Davis and Will Tye in their Week 6 game against the Philadelphia Eagles.
Davis was the team's sixth-round draft pick in 2015 and Tye was signed as an undrafted free agent. Injuries have moved both players up the depth chart. Davis will be no lower than fourth on the wide receiver depth chart, and he could rise higher if Rueben Randle and/or Odell Beckham Jr. can't make it through the game. Tye enters Week 6 as the second tight end on the Giants' depth chart.
In the Giants' Week 5 win over the San Francisco 49ers, Davis played 23 snaps and Tye played 25 snaps. Both players were efficient -- Davis reeled in his only target for a 16-yard catch and Tye caught 4 of 4 pass targets for 45 yards. Before Week 5, the two players had combined for just 15 snaps all season.
"Yeah, we're confident in those guys," Giants offensive coordinator Ben McAdoo told reporters when asked about his young skill position players stepping up, per True Jersey. "Geremy has been around here since the offseason.
"[Will] Tye is a guy, he was out there in the last drive in the last game, did a nice job, made some plays for us," McAdoo said. "So we're not going to pull back, we're not going to pull any punches. We have confidence in those guys and they're chomping at the bit."
