Steve Gleason reminds the Atlanta Falcons to '#NeverPunt'

When Michael Mauti of the New Orleans Saints blocked a punt against the Atlanta Falcons in the Superdome during New Orleans' Week 6 victory, memories of Steve Gleason ran through the heads of fans.

The incredible blocked punt by Gleason on the night the Superdome reopened after Hurricane Katrina in 2006 is one that fans will likely never forget, for good reason.

“I loved seeing Michael Mauti block that punt (Thursday) night,” Gleason said. “I believe life is much bigger than sports, but like any great art form, when sports are at their best, they galvanize the community in celebration. (Thursday) night was one of those nights. Joyous.”

“These moments often seem to come at the Atlanta Falcons' expense, which is … fine by me. I have offered my advice to the Dirty Birds before, but it must be repeated. Nothing in life is easy but … #NeverPunt.”

Currently, Gleason is an ALS advocate after being diagnosed with the disease back in 2011. The former hero Saint spoke out about the blocked punt, while also having some fun with the Falcons after watching the great play live, according to Mike Triplett of ESPN.
