Winning the Walter Payton Man of the Year award is one of the greatest honors in the NFL, highlighting a player's work both on the field, and more importantly, away from it.

On Wednesday, teams nominated one player each for the award with the winner to be named later. The Miami Dolphins nominated Ryan Tannehill for the award, his first nomination.

Surprisingly, Tannehill is only one of two quarterbacks to be nominated, with Eli Manning of the New York Giants being the other.

On the field, Tannehill has completed 62 percent of his passes for 2,991 yards, 20 touchdowns and 11 interceptions.
