Both the Royals and Chiefs clinched playoff spots -- and that's a first

The Kansas City Chiefs ensured that 2015 will go down as the Year of Truman Sports Complex.

They're playoff-bound after a 1-5 start, joining their baseball-playing neighbors for the first time in Kansas City sports history.

It's been over five decades since the Royals and Chiefs both played playoff series. The Chiefs weren't native to Kansas City back then; they played in Dallas. And the Royals were known as the Philadelphia A's.

They both relocated to America's heartland, but enjoyed very different eras of prominence. The Royals thrived in the 80's and the Chiefs rose to power in the 90's and 00's.

Of course, the Royals won a title in 2015. It'll usher in a golden age of Kansas City sports if the Chiefs can match.
