Mike McCarthy hypes development of Packers rookie LB Jake Ryan

Move over, Clay Matthews. There's a new linebacker ready to star for the Green Bay Packers.

At least that's the way head coach Mike McCarthy made it sound when discussing Jake Ryan's development on Wednesday. McCarthy praised the rookie's improved communication skills as well as his instincts, according to the Packers' official Twitter account.

Ryan, a fourth-round draft pick out of Michigan, showed what he can do when given an opportunity to start. He led the team with 10 tackles (six solo, one for a loss) against the Detroit Lions last week, proving that he's ready be an impactful playmaker on defense -- not just a special teams standout.

The Packers seem to have scooped up a quality addition on defense with this draft pick. Expect to hear his name called a lot more moving forward.
