Fantasy Football Start or Sit Week 8: TE Austin Seferian-Jenkins
Heading into Week 8 Fantasy Football, tight end Austin Seferian-Jenkins isn’t worth the time of owners. He shouldn’t be started against the Cleveland Browns due to a knee injury.
Unfortunately for the New York Jets, they have no viable options at tight end. Their defense also has no idea on how to cover them effectively. Tight end Austin Seferian-Jenkins has been a disappointment so far in his tenure with the Jets. Fantasy football owners should easily sit him this week due to his inability to be a receiving threat. He might even be completely waivable due to his lingering ankle injury.
As per the Media Relations Department of the Jets, Jenkins hasn’t participated in practice all week long. The Jets are preparing for their Week 8 matchup against the Cleveland Browns and need all hands on deck. It’s no secret why Jenkins is available in the majority of fantasy football leagues. Basically, throughout his career, he’s shown flashes of potential but isn’t consistent.
So far in his career, Jenkins has totaled 620 receiving yards, 47 receptions, and seven touchdowns. When general manager Mike Maccagnan acquired him this season, it was expected he could have finally been a premier threat on offense.
In the case owners haven’t seen the offense of the Jets in action this season, you aren’t missing much. Jenkins hasn’t made an impact at all and his fantasy football value is as low as it can be.
More from The Jet Press
Owners are advised to drop Jenkins completely as it’s hard to trust any offensive player dealing with the ankle injury that has sidelined Jenkins, for the most part, this season. The Jets might very well lose to the Browns this week as it has all the makings of a “trap game” for Gang Green.
Overall, don’t waste your time or valuable starting spot in your fantasy lineup on Jenkins. He’s not going to be a sleeper pick anytime soon and well, you’re better off releasing him and stocking up on wide receivers heading into the second half of the season.
