Patriots' Martellus Bennett writes emotional letter to daughter after Trump election

New England Patriots tight end Martellus Bennett, who announced his support of Hillary Clinton in a tweet on Election Day, posted an emotional letter to his daughter on Instagram in response to the news Donald Trump had beaten his preferred nominee to become the next president of the United States.

"'Daddy how will this effect my future?'" Jett, I'm not totally sure my love," Bennett wrote. "You'll be 7 in four years, you'll be in the 2nd grade. Your mom and I have a lot of work to do. We will continue to teach you How to love, accept others for who they are, think for yourself, help others in need, achieve what the world deem[s] impossible."

"This is a huge weight to put on your shoulders but don't worry about that I'll always be here to spot you," he continued. "Training starts today. I love you."

Bennett stands in contrast to other members of the Patriots in his opposition to Trump. Head coach Bill Belichick wrote a letter to Trump expressing his support before Election Day, and Trump said quarterback Tom Brady voted for him.
