Chris Johnson chooses the Cardinals after visiting the Dolphins

Free-agent running back Chris Johnson has agreed to a one-year deal to return to the Arizona Cardinals.

Johnson recently visited with the Miami Dolphins, who lost free-agent running back Lamar Miller to the Houston Texans. The Dolphins made a run at restricted free agent C.J. Anderson, but the Denver Broncos matched their offer sheet.

Johnson, 30, rushed for 814 yards and three touchdowns and averaged 4.2 yards per carry last season — his first with the Cardinals. His season ended when he suffered a broken leg in Week 12 against the San Francisco 49ers.

It was a bounce-back year for Johnson, who rushed for only 663 yards in 16 games with the Jets in 2014. The previous six seasons, he never rushed for fewer than 1,000 yards.
