AFC East Free Agency Capsules

Updated Mar. 4, 2020 11:11 p.m. ET

Capsules of AFC East teams heading into free agency. Available salary cap space is an estimate. The 2016 salary cap is $155.27 million per team.

BUFFALO BILLS (8-8)

UNRESTRICTED FREE AGENTS: WR Percy Harvin, LB Nigel Bradham, DE Alex Carrington, WR Leonard Hankerson, CB Ron Brooks, QB Josh Johnson.

RESTRICTED FREE AGENTS: WR Chris Hogan, DT Corbin Bryant, DT Stefan Charles, LB Ty Powell, OT Jordan Mills, FS Bacarri Rambo, RB MarQueis Gray.

NEEDS: Salary cap-strapped club has little room to maneuver. With Mario Williams' release and Bradham unsigned, Bills need to address holes in front seven of coach Rex Ryan's defense, which underperformed last year. Losing Incognito would be significant blow after he helped team lead league in yards rushing. Buffalo also suddenly thin at receiver behind Sammy Watkins and Robert Woods.

AVAILABLE SALARY CAP SPACE: $10 million.

MIAMI DOLPHINS (6-10)

UNRESTRICTED FREE AGENTS: DE Olivier Vernon (transition tag), DE Derrick Shelby, RB Lamar Miller, WR Rishard Matthews, FS Louis Delmar, LB Kelvin Sheppard, LB James-Michael Johnson, LB Spencer Paysinger, QB Matt Moore, OL Jacques McClendon, OL Shelley Smith.

RESTRICTED FREE AGENTS: FS Michael Thomas, TE Brandon Williams.

NEEDS: Much depends on whether Dolphins lose Vernon after they placed $12.734 million transition tag on him. He can negotiate with other teams, but Miami has right of first refusal to match any offer. If Dolphins lose Vernon, defensive end becomes priority, but they must plug plenty of other holes to help new coach Adam Gase turn around franchise that hasn't had winning season since 2008. Needs elsewhere include guard and safety, and if Dolphins lose Miller they'll be in market for running back. They attended to some needs by agreeing to acquire LB Kiko Alonso and CB Byron Maxwell from Philadelphia.

AVAILABLE SALARY CAP SPACE: $12 million.

NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS (13-5)

UNRESTRICTED FREE AGENTS: C Ryan Wendell, CB Tarell Brown, FS Tavon Wilson, DE Akiem Hicks, RB LaGarrette Blount, FS Nate Ebner, WR Brandon Gibson, LB Dane Fletcher, CB Leonard Johnson, RB Steven Jackson, LB Dekoda Watson.

RESTRICTED FREE AGENTS: FS James Develin, DT Sealver Siliga, CB Justin Coleman, LB Rufus Johnson, WR Brian Tyms, OL Cameron Fleming, FS Brandon King, OL LaAdrian Waddle

NEEDS: Patriots had all kinds of injury issues on offensive line and paid for them late in season. So getting some depth there could be focal point. Defense didn't have as many injuries, but finding cornerbacks Malcolm Butler and Logan Ryan some help in secondary is another area they could look at. Starting RB Dion Lewis is slated to return after torn ACL in left knee. But with no guarantee that Blount, sidelined with a late-season hip injury, will re-sign, New England could go searching for another big back.

AVAILABLE SALARY CAP SPACE: $12 million

NEW YORK JETS (10-6)

UNRESTRICTED FREE AGENTS: DE Muhammad Wilkerson (franchise tag), QB Ryan Fitzpatrick, NT Damon Harrison, LB Demario Davis, LB Calvin Pace, RB Chris Ivory, RB Bilal Powell, RB Stevan Ridley, G Willie Colon, S Antonio Allen, S Jaiquawn Jarrett, DL Leger Douzable, CB Darrin Walls, DE Stephen Bowen, TE Kellen Davis, LB Jamari Lattimore, OT Ben Ijalana, LB Erin Henderson, WR Chris Owusu, K Randy Bullock.

RESTRICTED FREE AGENTS: P Ryan Quigley, TE Zach Sudfeld, WR Kenbrell Thompkins.

NEEDS: Jets are likely to bring back Fitzpatrick, solving quarterback issue at least for short term after he set franchise record with 31 TD passes last season. They have some other holes on offense, though, with top three running backs all free agents. Tight end and offensive line depth will be likely targets in free agency and/or draft, as will inside linebacker, cornerback and outside pass rusher.

AVAILABLE SALARY CAP SPACE: $6 million.
