Seahawks owner Allen announces extension for GM Schneider
NEW YORK (AP) The Seattle Seahawks have extended the contract of general manager John Schneider.
Team owner Paul Allen announced the deal on Twitter on Sunday night, saying ''(at)Seahawks extend top GM John Schneider, key architect of our roster....Congrats!'' The Seahawks later confirmed the hiring from their official account.
Schneider was entering the final year of his deal with Seattle. The Seahawks have gone to the playoffs five times in six seasons under Schneider, winning one Super Bowl and appearing in another.
Details of the extension were not announced.
Schneider was hired one week after coach Pete Carroll, and the pair reconstructed the roster together. After two 7-9 seasons to begin their tenure, Seattle has won at least 10 games in four straight seasons.
