Report: Tim Tebow signing with Eagles
By Steve DelVecchio
Tim Tebow is getting another shot at playing in the NFL, as the 27-year-old has reportedly agreed to a deal with the Philadelphia Eagles.
Jay Glazer of FOX Sports reports that Tebow will be in Philadelphia on Monday and will sign with the team. The former Florida star has been working with respected quarterback coach Tom House, and the Eagles are apparently convinced that he has improved significantly since the New England Patriots released him two seasons ago.
The Eagles have roster spots available, so signing Tebow will be a no-risk situation. ESPN’s Adam Schefter added that the team attempted to trade backup quarterback Matt Barkley before signing Tebow, which is consistent with a report that surfaced last month. The Eagles were not satisfied with the market for Barkley, but they decided to sign Tebow anyway so he can participate in their entire offseason program.
Tebow, who has been working as a football analyst for ESPN and the SEC Network, last played in an NFL game in 2012. He was unimpressive during the preseason with the Patriots in 2013 and was released before the start of the regular season. Tebow first worked out for the Eagles roughly a month ago.
If you want to know how current NFL players feel about Tebow’s abilities, just ask this star running back. The odds are stacked against Tebow, but no one has ever questioned his work ethic. We know he won’t go down without a fight.
