E.J. Manuel labeled 'Scared' by former NFL cornerback Ronde Barber
The Buffalo Bills have a talented roster but the one glaring weakness they have is at the quarterback position. The Bills are hoping that EJ Manuel, Matt Cassel or Tyrod Taylor can separate themselves once training camp gets underway after none of them stood out at all during OTAs and minicamp.
The Bills and their fans would probably like to see Manuel rebound in 2015 after spending most of the 2014 season on the bench. Manuel hasn't lived up to the billing of being picked No. 15 overall in the 2013 NFL Draft and could be entering a make-or-break year.
With that in mind, former Tampa Bay Buccaneers defensive back Ronde Barber compared Manuel to Jameis Winston on CBS Sports Radio and didn't have a glowing endorsement for the Bills quarterback.
“The guy that preceded him at Florida State, EJ Manuel, I did a couple of games of Buffalo over these two years that I’ve been working at FOX, and he is the other way. He’s timid. He holds the ball. He’s scared to deliver it when he needs to. This guy is the complete opposite, maybe to a detriment at times; he throws a lot of interceptions.”
These comments come a day after Andy Benoit of the MMQB ranked the Bills' quarterback position as the worst in the NFL, no matter who starts under center. Hopefully one of the quarterbacks can prove the doubters wrong and lead the Bills to the playoffs a year after going 9-7.
