Broncos' Matt Paradis in the driver's seat at center

Matt Paradis anchored the Broncos line once before -- as a college center at Boise State.

The 25-year-old is poised to reprise that role with the NFL's Broncos. Head coach Gary Kubiak couldn't say enough about Paradis after the Seahawks game.

"He has to be a quarterback and I know that he has been here a year, but let’s remember that he’s really a rookie in a lot of ways, too," Kubiak told reporters after the preseason opener. "I liked the way he ran the group."

Denver grabbed Paradis in the sixth round of the 2014 draft as a developmental player. But with Manny Ramirez back in Detroit and the Broncos line in flux, Paradis was thrown in the mix.

He's done nothing but impress, according to Kubiak. The head coach sounds increasingly comfortable with Paradis on the first team.

"I just like our effort and I think that if Matt can hold the group together, we can continue to grow, which is going to be the key," he said. "I liked the way that the first group played. They’ll stay together and we’ll keep going.”
