Giants' Odell Beckham: Landon Collins will still be 'a beast'

The New York Giants' safeties are dropping like flies. During the preseason opener against the Bengals, second-round draft pick and projected starter Landon Collins injured his knee. When he returns, teammate Odell Beckham Jr. is confident that he will be the game-changing safety the Giants desperately need.

"It's crazy because he was a guy that he went to Alabama, I went to LSU. Even going into the draft, I really don't give a lot of defensive backs props and stuff," Beckham said to reporters, per Jordan Raanan of True Jersey. "But I just said this guy is a beast and it would be crazy if we drafted him. I know I was definitely hoping he'd be on my team and then we drafted him.

"Now I get to sit here and watch him in person every single day. He's going to be a phenomenal player."

The Giants will have to wait on this to happen for now. Collins was injured on the Giants' second defensive snap of the preseason and he is currently listed as "day-to-day" on the injury report.

"Unfortunately whatever happened to him happened," Beckham said. "Just wishing for him to stay strong and come back ready to play the way I know he's capable of."

In the mean time, Collins is missing valuable practice snaps as he tries to learn Steve Spagnuolo's defensive scheme.
