Bridgewater vs. Carr: Second-year QBs have very different strengths

The Teddy Bridgewater and Derek Carr comparisons will continue for as long as these two are playing NFL games.

The second-year quarterbacks both entered the league as members of the 2014 NFL draft class. The Minnesota Vikings selected Bridgewater with the last pick in the first round; the Oakland Raiders took Carr with the fourth pick in the second round. Both players have taken over as starters with their respective teams.

With Bridgewater's Vikings and Carr's Raiders set to go head-to-head this weekend, ESPN's Ben Goessling decided to examine their production over the last season and a half.

Goessling found that Carr's statistics outshine Bridgewater's, especially when it comes to touchdown passes. Carr has already delivered 40 scoring strikes, while Bridgewater's total is half that figure. Carr has also attempted far more passes (872 to 634) and thrown for about 800 more yards.

Where Bridgewater has a significant edge is in winning percentage. He is 12-8 as Minnesota's starting quarterback (.600), whereas Carr has quarterbacked the Raiders to a 7-17 record (.292).

While Carr has been lighting up the scene with electric passing game in Oakland, Bridgewater has quietly guided the Vikings to 6-2 start this season. Sunday's game between these two teams should provide the ultimate clash of flash and substance at quarterback.
