Jeff Fisher joked with Rams players about their lack of touchdowns
Heading into Week 3 of the NFL season, the Rams are the only team remaining in the league that has yet to score a touchdown this year. That is certainly not great -- though Los Angeles did manage to beat the Seahawks on the strength of three field goals -- but head coach Jeff Fisher doesn't seem all that somber about it.
In fact, Fisher made it a point to share a few laughs with his team regarding their lack of offensive production in the first few weeks. The veteran head coach reportedly teased his players about their inability to find the end zone so far.
“I told them this morning, I was running around the building with the move and everything looking for some things that I hadn’t been able to find yet for my office. I found a box, and I showed it to them — it was full of touchdowns,” Fisher said, according to the team’s website.
“So we watched some touchdowns today. It has to be fun — this business has to be fun. As long as they’re doing the work, and focused, and executing, and doing the things we’ve asked, then it’s OK to have some fun here and there.”
Rams tight end Lance Kendricks also said that Fisher's jokes extended to the practice field this week as well.
“He hands us the ball and he’s like, ‘Here.’ Then he makes us stand in the end zone, and he’s like, ‘You see this? This is a football. This is the end zone. This is where you’re supposed to be,” said Kendricks. “So we kind of laugh at it, but I know he’s kind of serious.”
It's hard to imagine too many other coaches across the league would approach a legitimate issue plaguing their team in such a lighthearted manner, but Fisher seems confident that the offense will come.
