Rookie DT Bennett seeing increased workload for Jacksonville

Published Sep. 29, 2015 2:06 a.m. ET

After playing 18 snaps in Jacksonville's Week 2 win over the Miami Dolphins, Jaguars rookie defensive tackle Michael Bennett saw his workload almost double in Sunday's loss to the New England Patriots.

Bennett played 33 snaps in a reserve role behind starter Tyson Alualu in the 51-17 loss.

“He’s doing a good job,’’ Jacksonville head coach Gus Bradley said, per Vito Stellino of the Florida Times-Union. “I think what we’re hoping for him is that he can add a little bit of a rush for us.’’

A sixth-round pick out of Ohio State, Bennett has played in all three games, with one tackle so far. He'll look for his first sack of the season Sunday against Andrew Luck and the Indianapolis Colts.
