Steve Smith Sr., Crockett Gillmore return to Ravens practice, Forsett sits

Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco had two of his weapons back on the practice field Wednesday.

Receiver Steve Smith Sr. (microfractures in back) and Crockett Gillmore (calf) practiced on a limited basis. Smith ran routes at full speed but appeared to have trouble when slowing down or changing direction, according to ESPN.com's Jamison Hensley. Smith sat out Sunday's overtime loss to Cleveland while Gillmore has missed the last two games.

Despite the absence, Smith is still Baltimore's leading receiver by far with 29 catches for 373 yards and two touchdowns. Gillmore is third behind Kamar Aiken with 10 catches for 151 yards and two scores.

Running back Justin Forsett did not practice after suffering an ankle injury in the fourth quarter on Sunday. If he is unable to play Sunday in San Francisco, the Ravens will be without their top two running backs as Lorenzo Taliaferro was placed on injured reserve Wednesday with a lingering foot injury.

Elvis Dumervil also sat out as he continues to nurse the groin injury that forced him out Sunday. Guard Marshal Yanda (ankle), corner Lardarius Webb (thigh), Darren Waller (concussion) were also among a lengthy list of 10 Ravens who were sidelined Wednesday.
