Atlanta Falcons rookie Tevin Coleman gets first-team work in camp

While Tevin Coleman has Atlanta Falcons fans excited about the future, it's not time to crown him as the starter. Not yet at least.

According to Vaughn McClure of ESPN though, the rookie running back from Indiana is getting a few first-team reps early in training camp. Obviously, Coleman has a long way to go in order to win the job still, but Dan Quinn seems like a man who has a method to his madness.

“Early, we actually want to play guys with the first group, not just at running back, receiver ...” Quinn said, referring to multiple positions. “And that's our chance to evaluate the guys going against [the starters], 'Can you handle it?' So it's really by design; how many guys can we put into that mix? So in the first meeting, we told the guys, 'You're going to play for this system to show that you can do it.'"

Sure, it doesn't seem like much at this point, so we probably shouldn't read too much into it. Even with that said, Coleman could continue to get reps as camp rolls on and we get closer to the regular season.

If that happens, then we're going to see this running back competition get even more fun to watch.
