CHICAGO (AP) Pittsburgh Pirates catcher Francisco Cervelli has left Saturday's game against the Chicago Cubs after a foul ball from Jason Heyward hit his mask and the left side of his jaw.

Cervelli was struck during the third inning. He initially stayed in after manager Clint Hurdle and trainer Bryan Housand came out to check on him following Heyward's groundout.

Cervelli grounded out in the fourth before being removed for precautionary reasons in the bottom half. Elias Diaz replaced him behind the plate.
