Packers WR Adams tweets frustration following brutal hit
Packers wide receiver Davante Adams took to Twitter on Monday to express his frustration following a vicious hit to the head in Sunday’s game by Carolina Panthers linebacker Thomas Davis.
Adams, who spent a night in the hospital earlier this season after a similar shot to the head, is clearly peeved about the NFL’s lack of targeting rule.
After making helmet-to-helmet contact from the side, the Panthers were penalized 15 yards but Davis was allowed to continue playing after the vicious hit. Adams had to leave the game and did not return.
Davis responded to Adams' tweet, apologizing for the hit.
Davis will face a possible suspension from the NFL. Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers had some opinions on the matter after the game.
"I think it was an unnecessary hit," Rodgers said, via the team's website. "It's unfortunate. If I throw a better ball that situation doesn't happen. He's a repeat offender, so I'm sure the league will deal with him according to that."
Head coach Mike McCarthy added: "By the reaction of our sideline I know a lot of guys felt it was a dirty hit. I'll have a comment on it after I see the video."
