Report: Jets' Tomlinson out vs. Broncos
New York Jets running back LaDainian Tomlinson will not be available for Thursday's game against the Broncos in Denver after spraining his left MCL Sunday against the Patriots, the New York Daily News reported, citing sources.
Tomlinson did not practice with the team Tuesday but the Jets refrained from officially ruling him out.
Jets coach Rex Ryan said the 32-year-old would be a game-time decision if he was able to travel with the team on Wednesday.
Tomlinson has injured this knee before, in the playoffs with the Chargers after the 2007 season. That injury forced him to sit out much of the AFC Championship game that year, which San Diego lost to the Patriots, the New York Post reported.
"It's not as serious as that one in the playoff game," Tomlinson said Tuesday. "That one in the playoff game was pretty significant. This one is not as bad. That's why I say if the game was Sunday, for sure I know I'd be able to play. But since it's on Thursday I can't say that I'm going to be able to make it."
Joe McKnight is likely to get the bulk of the carries that would have gone to Tomlinson, while rookie Bilal Powell will be active for the first time this season.
