Coach Jim Washburn hired by Dolphins as pass rush specialist

MIAMI (AP) Veteran coach Jim Washburn has been hired by the Miami Dolphins as senior defensive assistant-pass rush specialist.

Washburn has 17 years of NFL coaching experience, including the past three with the Detroit Lions, where he assisted with the defensive line. Among those he coached was tackle Ndamukong Suh, who came to Miami from Detroit a year ago.

Washburn also worked for the Philadelphia Eagles and Tennessee Titans. He also has an extensive background in college and began his coaching career at SMU in 1976.
