Report: Ty Lawson arrested for DUI again

Denver Nuggets point guard Ty Lawson was arrested for driving while under the influence in Los Angeles early Tuesday morning.

TMZ reports that Lawson was pulled over for speeding when California Highway Patrol officers suspected he had been drinking. The 27-year-old was asked to go through some field sobriety tests, which he apparently did not pass. TMZ had spoken with Lawson earlier in the night when he was leaving Le Jardin nightclub in Hollywood with his girlfriend Ashley King.

The DUI arrest is Lawson’s second this year, as he was also arrested on suspicion of drunk driving when he was pulled over for speeding back in January.

This is bad news for both Lawson and the Nuggets, who were reportedly hoping to trade the former North Carolina star before the start of the season. There weren’t many suitors for Lawson’s services before he was arrested, and now there will be even fewer.

Lawson has openly admitted that he wants out of Denver, and Nuggets GM Tim Connelly has gone on record saying Lawson needs to grow up.

The comment Lawson made during the draft is probably wishful thinking at this point. Don’t be surprised if the Nuggets waive him.
