LeBron posts open letter thanking dad for not being there

Thanks for nothing, dad.

That's the simple message the NBA's biggest star has for the father who was never part of his life.

Miami Heat star LeBron James, who grew up in Akron, Ohio to single mother Gloria James, posted an open letter on Instagram, saying growing up without a father molded him into the man he is now.His father, Anthony McClelland, has never been part of his life.

He posted the image with the following caption:

Because of you Pops! Thanks all along. Could have said why me with u not being there but look what I made of myself. Thanks to Huffington Post for the graphic. #StriveForGreatness

James, who married his childhood sweetheart Savannah Brinson in September, has two young sons.
