The Los Angeles Dodgers and St. Louis Cardinals began their game with a three-man umpire crew because Eric Cooper went out with an illness on a 103-degree day.

Replacement John Tumpane arrived in the middle of the third and went to third base Tuesday night. Marty Foster moved from third to second.

D.J. Reyburn was behind the plate with Jeff Kellogg at first base.
