Hofstra edges UNC-Wilmington 70-69, both tied atop CAA

WILMINGTON, N.C. (AP) Juan'ya Green made a pair of free throws with 27 seconds left to lift Hofstra past North Carolina-Wilmington 70-69 on Thursday night.

The Pride (21-8, 13-4 Colonial Athletic Association) have won five straight and are tied with North Carolina-Wilmington (21-7, 13-4) atop the conference standings. Hofstra hosts Charleston while the Seahawks travel to Towson on Saturday to conclude the regular season.

Green and Ameen Tanksley scored 18 points apiece to lead Hofstra. Rokas Gustys chipped in 12 points and matched a career-high with 21 rebounds.

Jordon Talley had 16 points for North Carolina-Wilmington.

The Seahawks led 69-62 with 1:45 remaining before Green made back-to-back 3-pointers to pull the Pride to 69-68 with 52 seconds left. Marcus Bryan missed a pair of free throws before Green scored two from the line.

Denzel Ingram forced a turnover with nine seconds to go, but missed a potential game-winning 3 to end it.
